CPT Details
Why CPT Works?
CPT supports people in:
Changing beliefs that keep people stuck- reducing symptoms without reliving trauma in detail.
Understanding how trauma shaped beliefs about oneself, others, and the world.
Working through trauma-related beliefs that can keep the nervous system in survival mode.
Recalibrating emotions, behaviours and the nervous system that were based on trauma-driven beliefs.
Making meaning following trauma, reducing shame and guilt.
Regaining a sense of control over thoughts, emotions and reactions.
Developing more balanced and flexible thoughts and beliefs.
More regulated emotions and reactions, supporting meaningful and lasting change at a steady pace.
Where Does CPT Fit in Our Care Model?
At Mindseed, CPT is offered as part of our three-stage trauma model of care. CPT is typically introduced during Stage 2: Trauma Processing, once stabilization and coping skills have been established.
This stage focuses on exploring how past experiences continue to shape thoughts, reactions, and sense of self — often showing up in repeating patterns, feeling stuck or avoidance.
CPT is one of the most effective, evidence-based methods to support meaningful change by working with underlying trauma-related beliefs.
Why a Group Format Can Be Helpful
Structured group programs can offer a different kind of support in trauma treatment.
Participants often benefit from:
guided exercises and discussion that support steady skill development
hearing from others with similar experiences, which can reduce isolation
a focused and time-efficient approach to trauma work
practical tools that can be applied between sessions
Many participants also report gaining greater insight, perspective, and confidence in their recovery over time.
Our licensed therapists specialize in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma and PTSD. With years of experience, we’ll guide you with compassion and proven strategies.
